Guarantee Coverage by Vehicle Age

Guarantee eligibility is determined by the vehicle’s age and condition at the time of service:

• Vehicles 0–5 years old
  Eligible for a lifetime no rust damage guarantee or your money back, provided all maintenance requirements are met.

• Vehicles 6–8 years old
  Eligible for a 7-year no rust damage guarantee or your money back, with required maintenance during that period.

​

• Vehicles older than 8 years
  Eligible for 3 years of complimentary check-ups and touch-ups. These vehicles are not eligible for a no rust damage or money-back guarantee due to pre-existing corrosion risk.

Required Maintenance & Check-Ups

​

To maintain guarantee eligibility, vehicles must return for routine inspections and touch-ups at the following intervals:

​

• Waxoyl Hardwax Plus (standard formula)
  👉 Annual check-ups (once per year) are required

• Waxoyl Hardwax 21 (upgrade formula)
  👉 Check-ups every 2 years are required

​

These check-ups allow us to inspect treated areas, apply touch-ups as needed, and ensure continued protection.

​

Failure to complete required check-ups within the specified timeframe may void or limit guarantee coverage.

​

Definition of “Rust Damage”

​

For the purpose of this guarantee, “rust damage” is defined as:

​

Perforation (rust-through), structural weakening, or failure of treated metal components caused by corrosion that progresses after the undercoating service.

​

The following are not considered rust damage under this guarantee:

• Surface rust or cosmetic oxidation

• Minor corrosion that does not impact structural integrity or function

• Normal wear consistent with age and use

​

Exclusions & Limitations

This guarantee does not cover:

​

• Pre-existing rust, corrosion, or structural damage present at the time of service

• Areas where rust was already significantly advanced prior to treatment

• Damage caused by accidents, collisions, misuse, or neglect

• Environmental or chemical exposure beyond normal operating conditions

• Modifications, repairs, or aftermarket work that impacts treated areas

• Failure to follow recommended maintenance or inspection schedule

Money-Back Guarantee Terms

Any “money-back guarantee” applies only if:

​

• All eligibility and maintenance requirements have been met

• Steel Guard is given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and remedy the issue

• The issue falls within the applicable guarantee period and definition of rust damage

Refunds, if applicable, are limited to the original cost of the undercoating service only and do not include incidental or consequential damages.

Upfitting & Additional Services

Steel Guard also offers a full range of upfitting services and accessories, including tonneau covers, back racks, WeatherTech products, towing accessories, and more. Installation of these products does not affect undercoating coverage when performed by Steel Guard.

 

Manufacturer Warranty Compatibility

​

Steel Guard undercoating is a non-invasive, protective treatment applied to the vehicle’s underbody and internal cavities. It does not alter or modify factory-installed components.

When properly applied, undercoating does not void a vehicle’s manufacturer warranty under applicable consumer protection laws, including the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which prohibits manufacturers from denying warranty coverage solely due to the use of aftermarket products or services.

If a warranty claim is made, the manufacturer must demonstrate that the undercoating directly caused the issue in order to deny coverage.

Additional Terms

• Guarantees are non-transferable .

• Coverage applies only to treated areas of the vehicle

• Final determination of coverage eligibility is based on inspection and service history

• Terms are subject to change; the version in effect at the time of service applies
